McLaren

Ferrari, McLaren-Mercedes, Renault, and BMW are considered the top F1 teams. Renault’s Fernando Alonso snatched the driver’s championship from Ferrari’s Michael Schumacher back in 2005 and 2006. Alonso is now with McLaren and the constructor is back at the pole position early in the current 2007 season. McLaren’s early dominance is not only attributed to Alonso but also to the surprising rookie F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton and for the fact that they have a better car this year.

I’m a Ferrari and Schumacher fan but I am starting to be a fan of Alonso for the fact that he did not suffered adjustment snags just after transferring to McLaren and he’s currently on the number two spot in the driver’s championship before going to the Japanese Grand Prix. You might be thinking why just number two? The number one spot for now belongs to… again… the surprising rookie… Hamilton (leading by 2 points with 97 pts). The Alonso-Hamilton tandem backed by a superior car is pretty solid from the beginning but serious cracks from the two drivers relationship is beginning to surface… obviously, since Hamilton is not playing the part of the no. 2 driver. At the end of the first half and the early third quarter of the season, Hamilton took the opportunity to be in front of Alonso and might even go down in history as the greatest rookie sensation ever in F1 not to mention that he is British with Caribbean descent.

For McLaren, they are set to capture the constructor’s championship this year until… the spying issue. McLaren’s chief designer Mike Coughlan allegedly received top-secret data (780 paged technical dossier) from Ferrari’s chief engineer Nigel Stepney in April. The FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) penalized McLaren by removing them from the constructor’s championship.

Somehow, Ferrari’s technical information was used to McLaren’s advantage and although Alonso and Hamilton were not involved, they have benefited from it. To prove that they are really the best, they have to win the remaining races and repeat the feat next season. But whether Alonso will still drive for McLaren is in question. There are news that he might return to Renault, go to BMW or even Ferrari because of ongoing rift with Hamilton.

Alonso amidst all of these is already one of the best… Hamilton, again… the surprising one, must prove his worth next season.

Makes Sense!

My brother introduced me to the idea of blogging and he told me to read about a certain Filipina who is making a living out of it. I went snooping and read experiences by professional bloggers on the net and then I started my blog Pinoy Technocrata and then Couch Potato Journal. In my readings, I chanced upon a tip from professional bloggers regarding how you can earn some buck while blogging and the highly recommended way of doing it is through Google’s AdSense program.

But here’s something better given to me by a friend while I was promoting my blog. This site will pay its members (signing up is free) by just viewing the advertisements on its site. I’m just on my second day and I have viewed 3 advertisements so far which translates into 0.03 USD. I think there’d be two unique advertisements that can be viewed everyday, that’s for the free signup. To get the most out of it, you have to obviously view more advertisements on just one sitting and to do that you have to upgrade your member account for 10 USD

Everybody’s jumping on the advertising bandwagon… Do you think it’s a god deal? If yes… click on this link!

Parental Control

This decade will be forever known as the one that popularized “reality TV.” There’s Survivor now on its 15th season (China) and The Amazing Race (US) with 11 seasons, considered as the two most watched reality shows. The downside to this shows is that they follow the “series” format so when you forgot to watch an episode… it sucks!.. unless you get to watch the replay before the next episode.

There is another type of reality TV show and they usually take thirty to sixty minutes of your time. They are known as “dating reality shows” which have been around since the 70’s but made even better (define better) nowadays. There’s Change of Heart, The 5th Wheel and Elimidate, which are straightforward and might be too much for conservatives.

This year, I’ve seen two hilarious dating games different from the ones I mentioned. The first one is Date My Mom and the second is Parental Control. With the former, it’s pretty obvious, the guy would have to date three mothers without seeing their daughters. After the dates, he must choose the mother whose daughter he wants to date. The ones he did not picked are first revealed to him so there’s a lot of hilarious “side comments” from the guys whether they made a good/bad choice in terms of appearance. Most of the time, the guy’s end up picking the more beautiful mom but not all the time does he ends up with the most attractive daughter. There was an episode where the guy didn’t chose the mother whose features is Asian (but she’s not ugly) and it turns out that her daughter was the hottest one and she doesn’t look like her mother!

With Parental Control, both parents are involved. They have to choose two men to date their daughter who happens to have a boyfriend. With the setup, you know that the parents does not approve of the boyfriend. And to add insult to injury, the current boyfriend must watch the video of the dates together with his girlfriend’s parents. Again, you’ll hear a lot of funny side comments both coming from the parents and the boyfriend with the boyfriend mocking the dates and trying to make them believe that their daughter would still pick him while the parents tells him of his impending replacement. I’ve watched two episodes so far and the first episode I saw, the boyfriend was replaced. What a way to get rid of your boyfriend and get a new one in front of international TV!

See the show for yourselves at ETC (Entertainment Central) at 6 PM… on weekdays…
